I've never decorated cookies before, have no idea as to how to ice them or what kind of icing to prepare/use. Also I want to stick the cookies to a loollipop stick. I think they'll glue well with royal icing.

Now let me go back to decorate the cake, I will be back to check for answers.

Thank you!!!! icon_confused.gificon_confused.gificon_confused.gificon_confused.gificon_confused.gificon_confused.gif

Check out antonia74's (I hope I spelled that right) recipes, they are great. icon_smile.gif

I use toba garrets icing though, not royal. I also put the sticks in when the cookies come out of the oven and are still hot and then let them cool completely. Everyone has their own way though. : )

A lot of times I will use MMF, say for the gingerbread men, use a nice brown MMF then you ownly have to pipe the white and red details.
(rolling out MMF gets old though). I just use the same cookie cutter as I did on the cookies and put the mmf on when the cookies are still warm and they melt just a tiny bit and stick to the cookie. You can see examples of how the mmf looks on cookies in my profile. It tastes good too! : )

Have fun! : )

Okie that's an interesting idea, to put MMF on them. I hadn't thought of that. I use royal icing for all my cookie decorating. Pipe the outline, then thin it out some & fill it in & smooth it out. With gingerbread people you wouldn't need to do all that outlining & filling. Just icing accents & some candies for the buttons & the eyes..
