I have not tried a textured rolling pin. I have wondered how it would work.

Hello,
What do you exactly mean by uneven, by depth or matching the pattern?
How large is the piece you are rolling on? If it's a gumpaste piece and you're rolling it off the cake, roll it out and cut it, then let it set up for a minute, that will keep your pattern sharper and keep your piece from stretching as you lift it to put it on the cake. If it's a big piece, roll it in one continuous motion, dont stop until the end. if its on the side of the cake, use a pattern sheet instead. if the pattern is deeper in areas, it may be because you are pushing it unevenly on one side or the other.

Thanks for the input, Margi... I just saw your post. I was making bow loops and I figured out that I was rolling my gumpaste too thin...Once I started rolling it a little thicker, I was able to get the textured rolling pin to work...

icon_biggrin.gif I'm so glad you figured it ou, if you ever have any other questions about fondnat, tools or gumpaste, I'd be glad to help. I'm a member of a Yahoo group called Cake_Sculpting_Craft on the Internet, I have learned sooo much from the other decorators there. I just found this site and this is a great one too!! I'd like to invite you to check out that site if you want to!

TamiAZ,

Do you put anything (powdered sugar, etc.k) on your textured rolling pin before you roll? I have a couple that I haven't tried yet. I was wondering how difficult it would be to roll out without the gumpaste sticking to the pin. Thanks for the information ahead of time!

If the gumpaste sticks to the rolling pin, I just brush a tiny bit of cornstarch on the piece of gumpaste and that seems to help...
