I tried to do a BCT for the first time and it had a navy color in it but the outside border is white and the blue bled into the white. I followed the directions as indicated on this site. Has this happened to anyone else, what can I do to correct this, as I have this cake due on Saturday...thanks!

I had one bleed too! I think I left it in th efreezer too long and the condensation caused the bleeding.. HTH

I think the previous poster is on the right track.

It could have been built up condensation if left in the freezer too long.

Or maybe the blue frosting was too thin, causing it to leak onto the white?

I use medium consistency icing for my BCT's with the smallest amount of water just to make it flow a little easier into the spaces. And I try NOT to freeze the BCT in between color applications. I have heard that some will lay down one color, then freeze it to "set it", then lay down the next color. I have not found this to be a good way to do this in MY environment because my apartment gets REALLY hot and the condensation affects the way the colors lay down.

One other thought is to maybe add a slightly larger amount of meringue powder to the frosting, which may help it seal the color in a little better as well.

Good luck!!

Jay
