Hi everybody,
I thought I should introduce myself before I start posting. I'm Molly from Kentucky. I go by good cake fairy just because it gives me a funny image of Glenda the Good Witch riding her pink bubble out of the sky and handing someone a plate of cupcakes.
I've wanted to do cakes for years, but just started classes this summer after my DH told me that I needed to get out of the house and away from the baby for a while. Apparently, I was speaking in baby talk without realizing it. Yech.
I took all three Wilton courses in the span of about four months. I absolutely love it. I've always been pretty good at baking, but love being able to put those great touches on a cake. Of course, Im still learning and my work is not going to be anywhere near the stuff I've seen on this web site for a while. But I'm always willing to share cake diaster stories and there are plenty of them. Who can you laugh at if not yourself?
I'm really excited about the community here. I'm looking forward to getting to know you. My first official wedding cake is due at the end of the month. I'll let you know how it turns out.

WOW!!! It took me three years to get my first wedding cake and then that one was done for free because it was for my BIL/SIL!!!

I actually did a wedding cake last year for free as a gift to the bride. It was OK, not great. But Isee where I made my mistakes now. And the bride was happy with it, or so she told me.
This cake I'm doing at cost as a favor for the bride, a friend of the family. I want to try a couple of "practice cakes" before I start doing this with any regularity. I may end up sticking with birthday cakes!!

My name is Clara and I am from a little northern michigan town called Gladwin. I am also a "learner".... we dont have any classes nearby here so I am teaching myself . I have 2 wedding cake orders BUT thankfully they are'nt for another year LOL so I can get lots of practicing in! I am begging Santa for a digital camera this year so hopefully I will get one... Welcome! I haven't been a member for very long but can tell you that "this is the place to be". I know your going to love being part of the group. It's nice to hear that your DH is the one that gave you the support to be "yourself" for alittle while. With every cake you make, you'll learn something new.
