I'd have to say coconut.
What is so weird is that I love chocolate, but will not eat chocolate cake for anything in this world.
victoria sponge filled with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream
MMMM! That sounds good MissB, I think we're going to need the recipe for that
I like too many different flavors of cake! But, for now, I'll go with Banana cake with Cream cheese icing. Lick your fingers yummy!
I did a dark chocolate (yes, Duncan Hines, didn't have time to make from scratch) this week for a practice cake for class and filled it with coconut filling. Everyone loved nibbling on the leftover corners of my "mounds bar" cake. The girl next to me did some recipe out of the Cake Bible that I believe she said was a butter cake of some sort but she messed around with the recipe and added a lemon liquer to the batter and then filled it with fresh lemon curd. OMG, it was heavenly!
I love almond yellow cake with fresh, made from scratch, strawberry cream filling, and my secret blend vanilla buttercream....mmmmmmmmmmm. Tastes just like strawberry shortcake!
Banana cake with Milk Chocolate buttercream!! Mmmmmmmm...
It was one tier of my wedding cake last summer. (My husband was VERY upset he didn't get any!)
I have two favorites
Snickerdoodle cake iced with cinnamon buttercream
and
Chocolate chocolate chip cake filled with carmel and iced with chocolate buttercream.
White cake with strawberry filling and vanilla meringue. It's sweet, but light enough that I can scarf down a couple of slices with no problem.
I love lemon cake with lemon icing.
But I made a cherry chip this last weekend that was modificed using WASC (it's similiar to the super enhanced recipe here on CC) and it was SOOO GOOD! I put vanilla mousse filling in it and yum, yum! it went perfect with the cherry chip cake.
Wait a sec.................... we're supposed to pick just one??????? That's so hard. I love them all!!!!!!!!
If I had to pick just one though it would have to be double chocolate cake with white chocolate filling!!!!! yummy yummy
Depends on my mood (or whether I'm PMSing ) But right now:
Grand Marnier cake with valencia-ginger filling... yum...
OR
Bittersweet chocolate cake with Creme de Menth filling.
Although, to get into the autumn mood, pumpkin cake with chocolate ganache would be great...
I'll stop now.
my favorite would have to be a checkerboard ganache cake. Checkerboard cake, with buttercream covered in a chocolate ganache. YUMMMY!!!
I agree with Alengirl, Banana Cake w/Cream Cheese Frosting. But I also love a good chocolate cake w/chocolate frosting.
My favorite cake is this surinamese cake that only get when i am in florida
It is a plain buttery yellow cake(sometimes made with ground almond) topped with something we call suikermuisjes
Very few people can make it good
I have tried to get a good recipe without success
I have one i tried is not as good but i am not giving up
I am still perfecting it ...................
Another one i make is chocolate almond genoise with espresso buttercream. I have perfected this one

6oz sugar
6oz butter
3 eggs(beaten)
6oz Self Raising Flour (If you can't get this you can use plain with baking powder added but I don't know quantities)
Cream butter and sugar together. Add egg in 4 lots, adding a spoonful of flour with each addition and mixing well in between. Fold in the remaining flour. Divide between 2 greased 7 inch round tins (line bottom of tins with greaseproof paper) Bake at 180C for 30 minutes. When done a skewer inserted in the cake should come out clean. Cool in tins for 5 minutes then turn out onto a cooling rack
When cold sandwich together with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream. If you're not decorating sprinkle top with some icing or castor sugar
vanilla buttercream
2oz butter
4oz icing sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
place in a bowl. Mix well together. If mixture is a little bit thick you can thin down to a spreading consistency with a little milk
Thank you, thank you, thank you MissBaritone
I will definitely be trying this recipe soon
Happy Baking
Favorite? Definitely White Chocolate cake with Key Lime filling. Most Popular? That would be Doberge cake - yellow"ish" cake with lemon filling.
Chocolate!!!!! But it has to be rich and chocolaty flavor...
I did a LOT of searching for the chocolate cake that I would die for and finally found it... I have stuck with that recipe but only do it on very special occasions, like my birthday because I like sooooo much, I could be in trouble if I let it sit in my kitchen...
German Chocolate Cake (was my grandmas favorite and I baked it from scratch on her Birthday every year.. )
Strawberry Shortcake
And anything with a nutty flavor to it.
OH i have to say it all depends on my mood and the time of year.
But usually it is Yellow cake with buttercream icing, Plain white cake. Or cherry chip cake with cherry icing.
However at christmas time it is Red cake that my grandma makes (it has holidays written all over it-i think this is really my all time favorite cake, but I haven't been brave enough to get the recipe and try it. It just isn't the same when she doesnt' make it.)
