Hi, I have my first wedding cake in less than 2 weeks. I am making a 5 tier cake (6, 8, 10, 12 & 14" round x 3" high). The cakes have no filling just cake and water syrup. The only cake stand that I could find was the Wilton 17" scrollwork stand. According to Wilton it will hold 60-80 lbs. Do you guys think this will hold all those cakes? If you don't think it will hold, do you have any idea on how to raise the cakes without having to wait for delivery of another stand. I don't know how much my cakes will weigh so I'm puzzled here. Thanks for your advice!

Is that the big plastic stand with scroll work on the sides? If it is you might be able to get a piece of wood cut to fit under it, paint it white and the stand will have support to hold the cake. You could have the wood cut a bit smaller than the stand and it might not even show.

To raise the cake up without buying a stand, you can just place something very sturdy on the table then cover with cloth and place the cake on that.

The stand is metal with a crystal look plate on top. My hubby thinks it will hold the cakes but I am not so sure. It is my first wedding cake and I am panicking.

I've attached the picture of the stand. It is the one on the right.
