We're having the North FL Ices DOS on the same day as my husband's cousin's wedding. They're not super close and it's a two hour drive. Hubby says he doesn't care if we don't go and says I can pick the DOS or the wedding. (He'd rather be watching football anyway) What do you guys think? I've never been to a DOS before.

Well I think you should go to Hallmark and get one of those cards that read something like" I am sorry we will not be able to attend the wedding, so please accept our apology". Send this with a nice gift, photo album or a family tree frame. Hallmark has wonderful things for wedding gifts.. AND Get your but to the Ices DOS!!!! And stock up on popcorn and beer (or sodas) for hubby's football game!!

I don't know....I just got married this past summer, and I was hurt by some of the people who did not show up. Did you RSVP? If you have RSVPed for the wedding, you have to keep in mind that the couple is paying for you meal, which is not cheap. It would be rude to not come. If you have not RSVPed...it's your call. Your cousin will only get married once, but you will have plenty of ICES events. Just my 2 cents. icon_smile.gif

Thanks you guys. We haven't RSVPd. As a side note the bride asked me two moths ago to do her cake. Then two weeks ago she sends me an e-mail telling me she's so sorry, but her mom already picked someone to do the cake and paid her. I was a little ticked because I had already spent a lot of time preparing. So when I got the info on the DOS I was really happy.

For those of you who have been to an ICES DOS... what can I expect?
missmelbox, DOS is Day of Sharing

Hey, eveyone has to live for themselves! Do what you want to do! Just make sure if you don't go, she knows that you can't come and is not expecting you in the final count.

Do you have to be a member of ICES to go to the DOS? Did I see North Florida in there? Where in North Florida? Just curious!icon_smile.gif

If you don't go to the wedding, make sure that if this DOS is being televised that you don't appear as one of the faces on the background on TV icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif !

But seriously, I guess it depends entirely up to you... The DOS sounds very tempting, though.... icon_confused.gif

I think you may be getting biased opinions. You are asking a group of cake obsessed people, remember!!!

I think that if you don't end up going to the wedding you may regret it later on but at the same time I understand how you might be a little pissed off because she ditched your cake almost last minute. At this point I would do whatever feels right.

I was invited to go to the ICES DOS next month in Columbia, SC. I have never been, but heard from the ladies in my cake club that it is packed with information and neat demos. I think I'm going to go and check it out.

If your husband really wanted to go that would be different but it sounds like neither you or your DH really wants to go to the wedding. If this is a cousin that you are not especially close to then I say send a card and a gift and your regrets that you will not be able to attend the wedding.
