I'm making a 16 x 16 chocolate cake and I wanted to know if anyone has ever tried the Devil's food recipe in The Cake Bible. I want to put a whipped nutella filling but I'm not sure if 1. the cake is any good and 2. if it'll be too chocolatey. Oh and if anyone has ever used this recipe do they know how much cake batter it yields???
Thanks
That sounds like an excellent combo! It should say right there how much the recipe yields. She's pretty accurate about that stuff.
That sounds like a delicious combo. Adelia, if you do use that recipe let us know how you like it. I've been searching high & low for a chocolate or devils food cake that I truly truly like..so if you recommend that one I hope u'll let us know..or atleast me..lol
Can I get the recipe as well for the whipped Nutella filling?
Thanks,
Naty

Someone messaged me that you can use straight from the jar, like ganache. Or you can whip it with a little cream and use as a filling. Sounds good and I'm going to try it.
I have the Cake Bible but haven't used the Devil's food recipe yet. I have used the other chocolate cake recipe in there and it was pretty good. But I've found with her recipes, sometimes they are hit or miss for me for whatever reason. The first time I made the chocolate recipe, it was so good. The last time I made it - the cake was crumbly beyond belief. I was so embarrassed.
I had someone request nutella filling back in August and I just heated up about a cup of it and added a bit of cream and just mixed it together. I let it cool down before I put it in the cake.
I also mixed a little into the chocolate BC for the icing.
