I made a thanksgiving cake .It was just for
my family Thank god. I made a hitchhiking turkey,it's in my
photos. 5 minutes before going to my mother's
house with it. My 2 year old decided he wanted some.
Well here's what it looked like after he got a hold of it.
I was so mad and then you look at his face and hes
telling you it's very good with a mouth full of cake.
I had to laugh. What a little monster. I have to find
higher places to put my cakes now....LOL.
I think i'm going to have to buy a BIG SAFE
to put the cakes in.Just to keep him away
from them...lol.He'd probably figure that out too icon_rolleyes.gif
Just thought i'd share

Kids know what they like!!

I bet you couldn't stay mad or upset with him for long! Especially at that age, they are so cute. You can almost see their horns holding up their halos!

My two year old little guy did the same thing. Fortunately, he only destroyed a cake that I had out cooling, I tented it because it was so late when I took the last cake out. I woke up bright and early to my son sitting at the table literally eating fistfuls of cake. When I walked up to him he smiled and said, "Mom! Cake!" As if I had it there just for him. So, off to the store I went to buy more supplies! heh.

Oh my gosh! My daughter has done the same thing to me, TWICE! She will be 2 years old in a few days. I was so mad--but I couldn't help but chuckle to myself. The second time was really bad since I had a bad cake weekend. Before I made the cake the she ate, I had to redo a friend's cake for a bridal shower that she decided she didn't like. So I had been baking all weekend. I was picking up the bathroom from the bath I had just given her and it was quiet for a minute in the living room so I called for her and asked her what she was doing. I heard this little voice say "I eating cake" I flew downstairs to find her with fists of cake smiling saying, "mmmmm". I just picked her up and brought her upstairs and gave her another bath. No matter how mad I was, I couldn't be mad at that cute little face. So now I don't do cakes unless my husband is home to watch the kids or they are all gone. I've learned too many times.

If the cakes won't fit on the TOP of my fridge, I postpone it until my 3 year old is in bed!

LOL! What great (and terrible) stories! My boy is 18 months now and I just DREAD something like that happening. I have become obsessive compulsive about protecting my cakes! For the last one, which was the biggest one I've ever done, I only baked/decorated when he was asleep or out with Dad, and I barricaded the kitchen for days! Poor family. I thought this would be a great stay at home little hobby job, but it hasn't quite worked out that way! icon_smile.gif I still love it of course.

Reminds me of the time I was making a peyote stitched beaded amulet bag and asked my DH to make sure my youngest didn't touch my beads while I was away for a few minutes. Well, he got involved in the game he was watching and when I came back a few minutes later ALL of my seed beads were poured into one very neat and large pile on the floor (I'm talking the EXPENSIVE seed beads!). I was soooooooooooo mad at him that I refused to clean the beads up and while he was cleaning them up I was on line ordering new beads (double the amount lost!). Needless to say, my neighbors 12 year old daughter got a really nice bag of seed beads and the DH made sure that the youngest was never near my beads whilst I was gone. She's 6 now and actually remembers dumjping the beads.

These are hilarious! I just had my first 'kid-eating-cake' incident with my 2 yr old son... I have a 3 yr old also, but she doesn't touch them. Bubby, on the other hand, seems to do something to every one I make! Last one was him getting into it and eating fistfulls while I was on the phone... and dad was on the computer, right next to him! (Leave it to a man not to notice something like that!) Cake was just cooling, so it wasn't a finished cake. Luckily it was for my mom, so she didn't care. Actually, she thought the cake actually had that much more charm BECAUSE he had gotten into it! Little stinker!!

I have had a dog eat a cooling cake. It was not a happy experience, LOL.

Another time I had a practice cake sitting after I had done basketweave on it. Put it on the back of the counter and walked away for a while. I kept seeing the kids running in and out of the kitchen and finally went in to check it and they had licked off one entire side of icing off the cake!

Then a cake I was donating for auction was finished and I went to get the camera to take a pic. It was covered in fondant and was the first time I had ever managed to get it PERFECT! Got back to find a finger size hole in the side of it. icon_cry.gif I ended up putting a ribbon rose over it.

I have no counter space so this is a constant issue. Although now they are both a little older it's not as bad. icon_lol.gif

Yep mine did that...I made a grad cake for a friend and I came into the kitchen that a.m. and found half the cake messed up! So lucky I always save leftover icing...I scraped the half of the cake and redid it.

I usually try to put a gate up in the kitchen doorway when I have a cake.

I stick mine in the microwave with door open and pray that the hubby doesn't slam it shut. Hahahaha... my hubby wouldn't shut a cabinet door if his life depended on it... so I guess I'm safe icon_lol.gif

My little boy always tends to takes a chunk out of my cooling cakes and then he runs and hides to eat it, he knows not to let me see him and when he's done he says "ummm cake!". It's so funny there is always a chunk missing from my cakes luckily its usually not that big and I can hide it.

I think it's cute..and be glad you got it in film! Well, at least it was a family cake! Do I see his little finger marks in the frosting? I'm sure mine will do the same when he gets a bit older!

Our darling daughter doesn't speak many words, although she will be 2 on Sunday. One of her favorite words is CAKE! I try to bake and decorate after she's gone to bed, but she always seems to sense when there is one in the house....cake, mommy, cake!!!

I bought a plastic storage bin with a click on lid, and it's large enough to hold a 13x19 cake board. I nearly always stick my decorated cakes in this, then put them in the center of my kitchen island and cover them with a towel. Since DH refers to the kitchen as "the room where we keep the food" I don't have to worry about him messing with the cake. And it's high enough that DD can't see it (yet!).....
