Help!!!! My Black Is Not Black......!!!!!!!!!

I need to color some icing black for a cake I am doing right now. I have started with chocolate as suggested here...but, it is brown grey.....Do I keep adding color or what do I do????????

If you're using Wilton black gel coloring, you will need to use a lot! If you have time, mix your color and let it sit overnight. It will darken after it sits. It's really hard to get a black color unless you use Americolor. HTH

I agree ..... use alot. Let it sit overnight and if the next day its not the right shade then you can add more color...... Ive had fondant that changed from grey to black in a couple of days.....

I found another posting about Black color and there was some really good advice there.

Thanks for the response. I posted my cake using this icing, buy the time I got finished with the details, it had turned black.
