I need help! I have been asked to do a cake and the theme of the party is old time hollywood. This is for a 13 year old girl. The mom is having the girls make their own movie. Any suggestions???
use a picture of an old movie camera?? or shape a sheet cake like an old movie camera??
or a roll of film can? with a fondant film peeking out??
good ideas thepastrydiva! I like the one w/the old can of film .. that'd be really cute
BCT's of Humphery Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, etc, either on top of a cake or around the side with a fondant roll of film, once again either on top or around the cake, a pair of old-style sunglasses, some rock candy for diamonds....man, you sure could have a ton of fun with this cake! Ya gotta post pictures of whatever you come up with!
Don't forget Gable!!! Or, you know what would look cute? Fondant swimmers or dancers in a pattern like the old Busby Berkley movies!

Great ideas! I am thinking either a film reel, or make her own Hollywood Walk of Fame star with her name on it. Keep the ideas coming.... haven't made up my mind yet. You guys are awesome!
Oh take that Idea and make Stars on cupcakes with the kids names on them..you can add the sparkle sugar or edible glitter or paint them gold with luster dust..
Oh ..I'm inspired now.lol
The Walk of Fame idea is perfect and the cupcakes to go with it is fabulous! You could also do Mann's Chinese Theater, you know where they put their handprints in the cement? This party theme is just awesome and so versatile!!!

Suzyqqq27 did an awesome Oscars Party cake for the food cake contest last month. Here is the link.

On the food network's website, you can look up oscar party ideas. They had a lot of cute ideas for cakes and chocolates from Wolfgang Puck.
ok here it is.... i stink at covoring cakes with fondant. How do you get them smooth and trimmed? Practice practice. They loved it though. Thanks for all your help!
Your cake looks great!
