P.S. BE AWARE..
Someone here said that making MMF in their KA was very hard on the mixer.. This is what I do..
I get one bowl for the marshmallow and melt the MM. Then in another bowl while the MM is melting I fill another bowl with about 4 cups of powdered sugar and when the MM is melted I pour the MM into the sugar.. Then I get the crisco and rub into my hands as if it were lotion. Then I start from the bottom of the bowl and start mixing in the sugar into the MM. Continue this until you get it nice and firm. You might need to add more sugar, add as you go.. If you have little hard pieces of sugar in your MMF don't worry. rub sugar all over your MMF and put into a plastic bag sealed real tight.. It works better the next day, but can be used the same day made.. I have read that if you add a little water it will take the little hard pieces away, but I never tried that.. Maybe someone else can help you on that.. GOOD LUCK icon_biggrin.gif

Hi briansbaker!! Thank you sooo much for the tips. I don't have a KA icon_cry.gif I want one so badly maybe hubby will get it for my b-day. icon_confused.gif I will use your method to make it tomorrow. My hubby's b-day is Thursday....so when I make it tomorrow and seal it up air tight...do I leave it to rest in the frig or on the counter??

Thanks sooo much ~Denise

Hey Denise

Hope you will get a KA for your birtday icon_cool.gif
Leave the fondant on the counter in a ziploc bag and it stays good for weeks.
Good luck!

LOL make a big mess one day with the hand held mixer.. And then say, " OMG, if I had one of those big mixers that come with the right bowl and have better speeds this would not happen!!!". Then start cleaning like your real sad about the mess and no KA.. HaHa
Maybe he will have pitty on you.. Good luck with your MMF.. And your Welcome!

I'm not really familiar with MMF, so it's basically just made of marshmellows & sugar?? Once you let it sit, you're able to roll it out like regular fondant??

I tried doing the MMF just yesterday by hand and could not do it. So I put the dough hooks on my sunbeam mixer and went to town. It works great. No problems. This is the first time I had those hard little sugar pieces and wondered if it was from trying to do it by hand. I just greased my work surface and hands really good with Crisco and they didn't seem to really make a difference.

If this doesn't make sense, just ignore me, I am on day two of little sleep.

Hi cybourg!! I mixed mine by hand and it turned out pretty good.....but I too had those little hard sugar pieces. I just went though the fondant and got all of them out. There was very many in it.

I had posted the fact that it was hard on my poor little KA. It was literally hopping on the counter so I thought it was better to just do it by hand. Perhaps I added too much sugar too fast. However....the 2nd batch I made, I just did it all by hand. It was super easy...super fast....came out great and I will do it again!

Next time I will try flavoring it. I also read somewhere that a little salt (how much, I don't know) will cut the super-sweet flavor. Anybody know how much? I would start with a pinch and see if that works.
