Ok , heres a story about a curly brown haired girl that makes cakes.....

icon_evil.gif like i mentioned in some other post my husband has since expressed intrest in baking with me .....he works in kingsville and I live in San antonio 3 hours away....he commutes home every other weekend...so last weekend when he called nothing unusual happened......and now heis in town and I guess had guilt blistering inside and said he make a cake without ME...... he usually brings me home orders and thought since there wasnt time he would make it himself.

longstory short HE DID NOT TELL ME!!!!! until he showed me his pics. Im very proud of him ....after seeing and getting over my anger I told him grasshopper you done good!!! He said he thought i was gonna be mad because he was taking my business away...because he has 3 orders...

anyhow.....were gonna think of a good screen name so he can post his pictures in the gallery but heres what he did....

After hearing about you guys everyday for the last 6 months hes wondering just like I often do ...What do the cake ladys think?????

please comment..........be honest so that he get a unbias opinon....

He did the spiderman first....as a smash type cake using MMF, and the other was star wars in MMF as well..the only thing missing was the M&M border that was placed at the party on the bottom tier and the number 6 candle in the front

He is pretty good. I'm impressed. Lastingmoments--he's been paying attention. My husband popped off one time about how he could decorate a cake, so I handed him a bag but he gave it back. LOL!!!

He did wonderful.. I fight my hubby all the time about cakes. He thinks I do it for money and wonders " where is all the money you made?". I finally told him " I make cakes for fun and they challenge me, I don't care about money right now".
I do charge for my cakes, I just use the money right back into cake stuff. Some men just don't understand! He did a good job!

I understand what you mean---it's not about him making the cakes, it's about him not telling you. DH and I have had stupid fights over him keeping something petty from me, it's the idea that we just want to know.
So yes, he did an awesome job, but this really has nothing to do with cakes, it's you feeling betrayed. Of course he's going to justify it b/c he's had plenty of time to think about it and justify it to himself before he even told you.
And now for you grasshopper, you've learned the marriage lesson and now go on----he's probably learned his lesson, you think??
Now make up and go teach him how to make icing!

Hi lastingmoments,

Your DH's cake is the bomb...you taught him well!!!!

Can understand how you feel...men are so insensitive icon_cry.gif

Just make him give you the money and go buy something for yourself...that will teach him icon_lol.gif

Tell him the little red can is a no, no.

Cheer up...see a family business starting up.

My 12 yearold neice calls me to ask how do I make bc icing?. The way I see as long as we can make ppl smile and feel good about baking thats great. MC

Too funny!! I think he did a great job. I too can understand how you feel about him not telling you. I can say that I don't have that to worry about..my hubby runs when he hears the mixer turn on..LOL I agree too with Stephanie..take the money and buy yourself something...lol And on the other side of it, look at it as you are his teacher..and he did well. Give YOUR self a pat on the back for being a good teacher. Ya never know...yall may be business partners one day thumbs_up.gif

As for not telling you, well....has there ever been anything you haven't told him? I mean I don't tell my hubby everything, we have been married 14 years. And he did tell you eventually.

I mean this in the nicest way possible:
Maybe he didn't tell you because he thought you would take over and he wouldn't get the chance to go it alone. He was trying out his cake wings a little bit -and low and behold, he can fly!

You know I was thinking after reading these posts and this sure reminds me of the movie "Funny Farm" with Chevy Chase, remember that one??? He's a writer and his wife goes behind his back and writes a book (better than his!) and makes money off it. He is of course mad!!
So, if he would have kept any other petty thing from you, you wouldn't be mad, it's because YOUR the cake maker...am I right??
Sorry, had to add in the humor!

You cant be serious? He baked without you and you are upset? So...off with his head!
Perhaps if he was baking and didnt tell you he was baking..with 2 swedish twins at a nudist colony...then you might be okay with getting upset. Okay...you'd probably be well within your rights in being upset. But not this time. Quit sharpening the spatula already.
By the way, sounds to me that he was trying to impress you, sharpening the skills so he could show you how he has improved and surprise you. Probably crushed his wittle heart.

lonelymoments.....I like that........Ill be sure to remind him....

Mamafrogcakes....I think thats you said it best Im not mad but usually when I make a cake i send the pics right away and await a response from him...and I would have love to see his work right away.....just like every night when I log on here and cant wait to see all the talented CC pics. HMMM you all arent keeping any cakes from me huh? lol

Well he did give me his money.....and I bought nice jacket target and a purse. And then off we baked togther all night long until 7am he decided that since I have plenty of stuff he would make a cake for the contest..... He told me about the supplies he bought at being so proud because he bought the offset spatula. (They bought him the pans and supplies and tip him for his time) I said oh like this one and almost killed him with it....IM really just kidding?
So I have 2 cakes due this weekend and im working on those so he made his entry...and did well thats all I will say about that so we dont give anything away.....

I just hope that I have time to make a cake for the contest too bad none of my orders are for purple items....

I say give the man a great big hug and get on with life. So what, he made a couple of cakes with out telling you (not that you don't have the right to be upset with his keeping secrets from you), but this a good secret, with money to boot! As long as he keeps you ihnformed of his cakes from now on, I say let him keep his money and you both get busy baking. It's a "hobby" the two of you can share!

You have a husband, away from home, and time on his hands. When I think of all the possibilities of things he could do to make you mad, somehow making cakes was not even on the list.
He does a good job too. Hummm he will want one of those camo colored KA's they were talking about in another post for christmas.

If I could get my husband to do anything but make unnecassary comments on my cakes...I'd be soooo happy!! But to get him to actually BAKE & DECORATE....I'd probably have heart failure!!! So I'd let this one go and be glad you both have something to share!!

His cakes are great....and it's wonderful you guys have something in common that you can share w/each other!!!

He did a great job!!! Talented, for sure!

The only connection my husband has with cake decorating is MONEY!! He always asks me, "Are we rich yet?!!" My response, "No, but I'm happy!!"

My only advice, Don't compete with each other. You certainly don't want to end up in a "MMF" war!!

Very nice!! I guess "little red can" would be a good screen name.
You can tell him his MMF looks way better than any I have done. Not that I have alot under my belt but have spent much time and money on classes. So yes, you are a good teacher!
I think he was dieing to try it to see if he could, and that was his chance. Men are so competitive.
