Hi everyone...I've been lurking, but now I'm finally registered. Anyway, a lady wants me tomake her a birthday cake with a Thanksgiving theme for her this weekend...no problem there. It's just that she asked me to put a thin layer of pumpkin pie filling with some whipped filling. I don't like pumpkin, so it didn't occur to me until I unpacked my groceries and looked at the can....would unbaked pumpkin pie filling even be palatable?

I thought that pumpkin pie filling needed to be cooked but I don't know for sure. Try a can of solid packed pumpkin. I think you may need to add a few spices to the pumpkin before mixing with the whipped cream. Check this link. Hope this helps.

Pumpkin pie filling has to be baked. If you buy it already mixed with spices & stuff I think you still have to add eggs, that's what firms it up. Without the eggs it will just be a runny mess.

I would do a pumpkin mousse. Found this recipe online. Sounds yummy.

Good luck.
