Check out the cover of Colette's Bday cake book on the left under Purple cake deco. contest. There are some fish on top. Maybe you could mold some fish in green and yellow fondant with a front and back with a popsicle stick in between the fondant and put in the top of the cake.

If you wanted to continue with turtles, you could make a fondant turtle (I've attached simple instructions) or you could do a lily pad with a frog on top.

Alimonkey

Where do you find directions like that? I would love to get my hands on some, since I have no artistic ability of my own I need directions on how to make things like that! Do you have other animals and such?

It's from a book my mom bought me for $1 at a thrift store called "Playing with Plasticine" by Barbara Reid. What a bargain!

What I like about this book is that it breaks everything down into basic shapes - ball, egg, pancake, drop, teepee, snake, sausage, cylinder, box, ribbon. Once it gets down to these, everything else seems less daunting!

I obviously can't scan and send the whole book, but if you have something specific you'd like to do, PM me and I'll see if I have it. I have animals, people, furniture, monsters, cars, boats, etc.

I've also looked through other books about modeling plasticine or modeling clay figures, just haven't bought any others. They are far more specific than cake books, so I love them.

Thanks alimonkey!

I'll have to look for books like that. I don't think I need anything right now but would if be okay to PM you if I need something later?

As it is for a babyshower, how about a bow from the ribbon on the cake with a turtle or fish teething ring or toy in center of bow.

I love the turtles!! I think you should do a bow with the same ribbon too! Do you know that the baby is a boy? Write something w/ boy on the sides of the cake. Welcome baby boy, etc..

Or what about snails & puppy dog tails? (Don't know what snips would be)

Since your cake is for a baby shower, it'd be cute to top it with a baby turtle hatching out of a shell.
