Why??? Just found out that the commercial kitchen I was using is no longer available. The chef that I work with sometimes was running a kitchen/grill at a country club here. And her husband is manager of the office with my husband. His office has an office in New Orleans or had. So the office manager came here and was staying with chef and husband.
OM's husband was also a chef in New Orleans and since my friend was at the country club, she enlisted his help. Guess what??? He went behind her back and talked with country club and now he has the kitchen/grill.
My friend has bent over backwards for these "guests", taking them out to dinner, letting them stay with them and eventually helped get them a hotel room that my husband's company was paying for. Talk about a "Thank You!" Needless to say, my husband's company is no longer paying for the hotel room.
So now, I have to find another comm. kitchen to rent. Just had to vent. Have a great day!!!
AWWWWWWW! mac, I'm sorry. You never know, this could turn out to be a good thing though. When a door closes, somewhere there opens a window.
Ohhh so sorry to hear, but as it was said earlier something even better will come your way.
I've said this a million times and I'll say it until the day I die. Being nice gets you absolutely nowhere. I have some friends that are B****er than I am and they get farther in life because they don't let people walk all over them. Then you have people like me on the other hand that are too easy going and get screwed over in the end. I'm sorry to hear that Mac, but it's like Misdawn said. This might be a blessing in disguise for you somehow!! You'll get through this!!
You may be right, but I'll keep being nice. At least at night I can go to sleep with a clear conscience!! And I don't have to avoid looking people in the eye because of something I did to them in the past. I would hate to be that way.
I agree nanaofthree. I could never cross anyone like that either. I just don't think it's right. I was just trying to say that those people took advantage of the generousity that they were getting from Mac's friend.
Mac,
So sorry to hear about what happened to you. But know that sometimes God removes things from our lives to make way for something much better. Prov 3:5 Keep your chin up!
Cocopuff,
The past couple of days have been very hard for me. I haven't been feeling like myself but after reading your post you put a lot into perspective for me. Thanks very much.
Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words. Misty--you were right. Right up under my nose may be the perfect opportunity to rent a comm. kitchen. While listening to KVNE today (Contemporary Christian radio), it hit me. Why not see if the place that I do cake parties will let me rent their kitchen 3 nights a week and on Sunday?
It would be ideal--it is 1 1/2 blocks from my house. So taking my things with me wouldn't be a problem. And maybe on a slow Saturday (is there such a thing???), I could demo something.
Listening to KVNE really clears my head of daily cobwebs and allows me to think clearer and not dwell on things that I can't help. So I know daily that God listens and talks to me when I least expect it.
That's awful!!!
Sorry this happened, but sounds like you may have already found something better!!
Good luck,
Christine
My bummed and mad state has now turned to pumped and happy. I may have found another comm. kitchen to rent.
It will be at the Cook's Nook (the cooking school and kitchen gadgets store). Haven't worked out the details yet, but it looks like it will be 2-3 nights a week and on Sundays.
Occasionally the store will have night classes but I can work around it and pick my days. It just seems in the last few weeks things have been happening that are moving me closer to eventually setting up my own place. This is a major stepping stone.
3 weeks ago, I started taking a small business course; my orders are coming in at least 5 a week; I have 3 weddings scheduled this month (so far, none for next month--bummer); next party/class is sceduled for December (gingerbread houses). I suspect October will heat up closer to Halloween and Nov/Dec--closer to the holidays.
I am also adding some chili mix and instant potato soup mix to my ever growing list of things to make. I have an awesome chili recipe that I mix up the spices and have sold at craft shows.
Okay guys, thought I would give you an update on the scroundrel that took the country club's kitchen from the chef that I work with.
He left--just up and left without saying anything to the country club. They were left hanging. Had all these dinner parties scheduled (that my chef friend had booked for them) so the country club called my friend back to discuss her position with them. She wasn't sure what she was going to do but I'm sure she will go back. She has her own catering business and she needs access to a comm. kitchen.
LOL!!! They thought they were getting a deal because this guy took less money than my chef friend. Just goes to show you that you can't get quality (even in people) for cheaper prices.
Wow! These people don't sound too nice.!!!The club is lucky to have your friend to depend on!!
Amazing mac! THings have come full circle almost! You have bettered yourself it seems! And the ones being greedy might have got left holding the bag!
