Try contact paper. It should work much better. I just bought some dummies, too. Haven't had a chance to practice on them though.

I don't wrap my strofoam dummies. If I'm covering with fondant I brush with melted jam to make the fondant stick. When I'm finished I jus remove from the cake board and soak upside down in a sink of warm soapy water. The icing melts away and once dried the dummy is ready to use again

I don't cover the dummy cakes either. I just spread the buttercream directly on the styrofoam and it's so easy. And you don't have to use near as much as on a real cake. Hot, soapy water takes it right off with no problem.

Hope that helps.

I've have only used fondant once, but was instructed to take a brush and apply water to the syraphome and then apply the fondant. Also, I was told that you could use BC.

I have been told that you can cover your dummy with either PermaIce or Joint Compound so that your icing could easily be washed off. Never tried it though.

I ice mine with royal icing and then ice with buttercream, works out great and so far no one has been able to tell the real cake from the dummy cake!!

I cover mine with saran wrap .. yes it's lumpy on the first coat of icing, but when you apply the second coat, it will smooth out just fine.. I have covered that with fondant also .. then I just grab the saran on the bottom, peel off and throw it all away into the trash can .. I've practiced over and over with this method and it's worked for me everytime... It's all in what you want to cover your dummies with really and what works best for you icon_smile.gif
