My daughter is turning 7 and she wants to have a outer space theme for her party, (she's an aspiring astronaut). I have no idea what to do. i wanna do something creative, not just the average sheet cake. Probably around 20 guests will attend. Any help, suggestions, tips, etc. will be greatly appreciated. TIA
Jen

Do you have the sports ball pan? You could decorate it like one of the planets. Or decorate a cake midnight blue like the sky and add stars and planets and stuff. HTH! icon_smile.gif

Carol Deacon's Party Cakes for Children has a very cute cake with an astronaut sitting on the moon. It's covered with fondant/marzipan.

I'm doing a space cake for my son next month...

I'm making a sheet cake that will be black with white stars on it which I'll probably sprinkle with silver dust. With the sports ball pan I'm going to make a globe for the center of the cake. With the mini ball pan I'm going to make 4 other planets that I'm going to tuck into the sheet cake where the corners have been cut out. I'm going to put a space shuttle on top of the globe like it's orbiting the earth and then I've gotten a chocolate mold for rockets that I'm going to put around the cake. My husband just started working at NASA so my son wants a NASA party. We have a party tent that we are wrapping in black plastic and spray painting stars, etc with day-glo paint. We're hanging glow in the dark stars and glow sticks and using black lights. Our kids have one of those big wooden swingset/clubhouses and we are removing the swingset and turning the clubhouse into a rocketship so they have to climb up into the rocket ship and then slide down the slide into outer space. We are getting one of those crawling tubes to put around the slide and the party tent will be set up at the end of the slide with an opening for them to slide into. We're having an alien autopsy and making jet packs for the kids to wear with 2 liter coke bottles. The invitations are rocket ships made from paper towel tubes and the goodie "bags" are rocket ships made from Pringles cans. We are also borrowing a fog machine from our neighbor to put under the clubhouse so the rocket ship will "smoke". We're going to show them a launch video and go through "astronaut training" activities. Lots of other activities planned but I can't remember them all right now. I hope the kids have are going to have fun!! A little worried about a couple of them that I know might be scared of the dark!?!

that sounds tooo cool .... I live to party plan I couldnt have done it better myself..... Right now Im in pony mode.....just in case you dont find the instructions to the rocket ship from looking at it I would use the wondermold pan on its side (2 wondermold cakes using extra rounds for length if needing more servings) for the body.......or the 3d egg pan......I hope that made sense...
