what a disaster today!! Yesturday afternoon I get a call from a cousin to make a cake. she found one on this site made by: sarahscakes

So i thought I would do it.

first time using ganache.

when I pour the ganache onto the cake. I had a board under the cake that you could see about an inch around. well the ganache went onto the board. It actually looked okay with it that way.

Everything went great.

until...I got an idea to take the chocolate off the board. Stupid stupid stupid!!!!

well it was a mess. the board underneath had scranwrap over the board. i tried to take it off. didn't work.

then I got the great idea to move the cake - stupid stupid stupid.
I wanted to move it to another prepared board.
it began to crack. (the part that is tall the the rest of the cake.)I didn't have any extra ganache to fix it either.

So i just sat down in the middle of my kitchen and cried. I even felt the urge to get sick!
I finally stood up to fix the cake when my 8th month old who was standing next to me let go and fell backwards.
She started crying. which then got me crying Again!

I am so tired. it is such a lot of work to make a cake while two kids are running around.

Just always remember to leave well enough alone.

oh well it is fine now. my cousin really liked it. I fixed the cracking to the best that I could - I just told my cousin that the weight of the strawberries pushed the layer back. check out the cake in my pictures.

Poor thing! Even though all you went through, your cake is absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have NEVER guessed you had all that trouble, EVER. We worry too darn much. LOL

I could have never done as good a job as you did! It looks so cool!

Great job!

I have had times like that and I just sat down on the kitchen floor and waited until my determination came back...... your cake looks wonderful.......if you hadn't told us the story I would have thought you meant it to look that way! thumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gif

I've had days where you just want to throw the cake in the garbage and walk away. Glad it worked out in the end!

A suggestion next time you decide you want to try ganache. Put your cake on the same sized cake board before you pour it. After you pour it, move your cake and the board off the rack and onto another (larger) cake board.

*hugs*
