The chef in who's class I did the pink quilted cake came looking for me on her way out of town to ask me if I could do her a favor..!

She was supposed to help one of her friends cover fondant cakes on Friday, but they never got back to her in a timely fashion. She came to ask me if I wanted to step in for her. I was like SUUUUURE!

( I may come to regret saying yes to this..she kept telling me that it was MANY cakes..lol)

Any excuse to get my butt into a "real" bakery..lol

Then while I was uploading todays pictures from class I was saying to myself...

This woman won't even LOOK at a wedding cake for under $2,000.00..sooooo does that mean that she thinks that my skills are up there with hers??

Woo hoo..if they are...I will have to raise my prices!..lol

I cannot wait for school to be over..I haven't had a weekend off in about a month with all the Hurracane event's we are working ourselves silly and it just seems that it's the same couple of people that volunteer!....sigh

Congratulations...there is nothing like recognition to make you feel great! BTW....did you use an impression mat for that quilted cake? I've never used one before....are they worth the investment? Some are pretty pricey! Thanks as always...

Advent68,

No..I used a triangle ruler and a pouncing wheel to make the quilted side of the cake.

I haven't used an impression mat...why pay those prices when you can go to the hardware store and pick up such great things...

Check it out!

Just got a call from my Chef, she's in Rhode Island visiting family...She called to see if they had called me in to work..

They haven't but the fact that she has that much faith in me and my work makes everything that I'm going through with school worth it!

Now if I could only find an Angel Sponsor..lol

Raise those prices!!! LOL Actually....I don't know where you're located, but I know that location has alot to do with pricing. We are in a rural community, andI don't care how good I might get....the pricing structure has to fit withing the economy of the community... Another quest to ask is "Who do you want to work for"...and why are you doing this? If it's for the casheroonie....then RAISE 'EM!!!!!!
