Well my 3D cake finally turned out thanks especially to "Freddie" and to everybody else who helped....there were a lot of you!!!! It's so nice to know I can turn to CC to get help when needed! I can't thank you all enough!
This was just a practise cake for my son's first birthday. The idea is out of a Wilton yearbook. In the book the colors of the dinosaur are two different shades of green and the spikes are purple but I thought I would go with different colors. When I showed my son the cake (I didn't think he would really care at all!) his eyes lit up and this silly grin came across his face. That made it worth absolutely everything! I can't wait to make his actual cake! This one was soooo much fun (after the cake actually took lol!) I really hope his cake turns out!
Hope I can post a picture!
It's not letting me post the picture, it's over the 800 pixels and I don't know how to reduce the size.
Sorry!
wow!! nice..how did u do that?? mini stand up bear?? and is the tail cake as well??
it's so cute!!
No Problem!
I think your dragon is adorable and I can just see your little boy's face light up! My son and daugher BOTH loved the pics!
Thank you everyone for the wonderful comments! Thanks so much again to AndiSue and I'm so glad your kids liked the pics!
Cakefairy
I used the big 3D cake pan for this and yes the tail is cake too! I had extra batter and made cupcakes and just carved them. The wilton book suggests marshmallows but I just couldn't imagine any child eating marshmallows with buttercream icing! YUCK!! They might like it but it's just the thought.......
On my son's bday I plan on doing the big 3D cake for everyone else to eat and the small 3D cake for my sons smash cake! I can't wait!
I ended up giving this cake to my neighbour....she has six kids and is pregnant again! I thought the kids would really appreciate the cake more than adults and boy did they ever! They ooo'd and aaaa'd when I brought it over. Oh, and my neighbor home schools too! All I have to say is WOW, I don't think I could do that!
Thanks again everyone!
Oh, feel free to give pointers! Any way I can improve would be a benefit to me!
Thanks again!
Tammy,
Your cake looks wonderful, I can see any kid loving it and I'm sure your neighbor appreciated it, as a former Dayhome owner and Daycare worker special things like this are always appreciated.
I like the colors you chose, and love the facial expression on him !!!
Great job, when all is said and done despite the stress and problems in making a cake, once you see the expressions in the childs face, everything else just sort of melts away and you know it was all worth it and you'll do it again.
Just think you will only get better and learn more after each cake and what a great start you've got !!!
Again great job.... glad I could help, anytime you want advice or the way you are going you can give me some, or just to chat email me.
Wow! I can't believe the comments I am getting from people that I really look up to, who are very, very talented and I admire very much! I only dream of being half as good as you all!
Thank you so much!
