I'm excited to say that I have just received my first wedding cake order!! It is for one of my sister's closest friends who is getting married at the end of April. The cake is going to be for about 75 people (small wedding -only 100 invited).
I told her it would be $3 a slice, unless she decided on some really elaborate design or tons and tons or roses or something. I'm going to have to transport it 2 hours away. I thought this seemed reasonable, but am afraid of either over or under pricing.
Have you done any reseach to find out what the going rate is in your area......here in my area people balk at $2.00 a serving!
congrats on getting your first wedding cake order!!
I am not sure on what to tell you about pricing.
I just wanted to say congrats!
Congrats on your wedding cake order, I had a lady flip out when I told her 1.75 a slice, wedding cakes are a lot of work, so I think it sounds reasonable. Good Luck
Congrats to you on your order for a wedding cake.
Hard to tell if it is a fair price without knowing some details:
What kind of wedding cake decorations? Will the cake be iced or covered in fondant? Curious, how did you arrive at your price?
Going price around here (Cleveland, OH) for wedding cakes is between $2 and $3 a slice, depending on which bakery (there are a lot of them). My sister just got married in July and her cake (casata with buttercream icing) was $3/slice.
The bride isn't sure what she wants yet, but it will probably be covered in fondant. Also, the wedding is in Erie, PA, which is a two hour drive from here. With gas prices and since I am not charging for delivery and set up (since she is a really good friend), I thought it seemed about right.
