I hope this isn't a dumb question. I've heard of mixing it with a little vodka . I have to do a Harley Davidson symbol on a cake and I thought it would be neat to paint it with luster dust to make it look like chrome. I just wondered how it would change the taste of the cake. Anyone know?

I never noticed a difference....I have used luster dust on almost all my cakes.....but I never actually painted the entire cake....just pieces of it.

The dust has no taste. If you use a clear alcohol to paint it on that has no taste either but if you use lemon or vanilla you may be able to taste this

Yes lemon has a yucky taste. If you do use lemon extract...use a brand that is more clear than yellow as the yellow coloring tends to bleed through the finished pieces since it is an oil. Learned the hard way!!!

Thanks for the info guys....I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some sort of nasty aftertaste or anything. I think I'll try mixing it with vodka.
