I just decided to start decorating while preparing for my DD's 2nd birthday in September. My first paid cake was in October and I just had one in early January. I'm already booked for a cupcake cake in February and 2 larger orders for June (a graduation and a 50th wedding anniversary). While talking with my coworker today. She wants to order one for March and my boss wants to order an 80th birthday cake. Neither are booked yet but my boss is the one that got the cake this month.

I can't believe how quickly orders actually started coming. I'm just doing this as a hobby and am really excited about how things are turning out.

thanks everyone. It has made me feel really good. At this point I don't want to do it full time, so I say, but it's really fun for me right now. I don't want to get burnt out either.

pumpkinroses... just finished looking at your photos and you do great work. Everything is soooo creative, you should be proud of yourself. Many of us have broken into this love and hobby from doing it for our children, grandchildren... myself like you was for my 2 year old.. imagine that, 2 years ago.....

Congrats!!! I am so happy for you!! I just had my first "commissioned" cake on Saturday and was SO excited!! Since September I have made 8 cakes for various events but all have been for friends and family. I hate accepting payment because I am so new at this and feel like I don't deserved to be paid! Good luck and enjoy the excitement!

I know what you're talking about! There are times now that I have to turn customers away - I don't like doing it but sometimes I'm too busy! Seems like when it rains it poors!
