The wedding cake challenge will be on tonight at 10pm eastern time. It is the one with Colette Peters on it. I haven't seen it yet, I've seen the birthday but not this one. I just thought I'd share! However right now, my FoodNetwork is black, not working. Anyone else having the same trouble?

I checked the food network website and there is no listing for that show.

I'll have to check my TV guide if I can find what the heck the DH has done with it!!

I use Time Warner Cable and it is listed in Eastern time as 10pm. My channel is still black and I don't see anything or hear anything on that channel. I hope this gets resolved before 10pm. I never go by the schedule on their website cause they list episodes from March and later.... Just thought I would share in case anyone wanted to watch it.

I saw a notice on TFN the other night..said something about a change in satellites and that the local cable companies had to renegotiate with TFN....

That might be why mine is acting funny. I think I'll call TWC to see what they are doing...

I think it would have taken me six hours to make one of those flowers on one of those cakes!!! I wish they could make the show longer and show more of the decorating details... and Mike really does make amazing cakes!

My opinion is NEVER the popular one but here goes! I don't mean not to give Colette her props but I honestly think that sometimes she wins based on who she IS not what she DOES. She is known as cake queen and gets treated as such. I truly thought that Mike of "Mike's amazing cakes" work was better and I liked some of the other designs better, in my opinion most all of colettes look like the taj mahal or a genie bottle and I dont care for that tapestry design. I love her work do not get me wrong..and I will never be half that good...but this is just my opinion. I thought Mike should have won..and then Colette second and the newcomer third. I felt so bad for her when her cake wound up too big early on in the show. She had such heart and dedication, and her cake was truly original. And what about the other guys lightbulb thingie I never was sure how fondant thins well withy a lightbulb? I would make a mess outta that for sure. Broken glass anyone?

KayDay you summed it up beautifully...I think she won on name only.

I loved Ho's cake with the flowers. I thought that Sue from England should have won.

Ditto....I think blind judging would increase the contest authenticity.
Collete's cake was beautiful, but do you all really think it true to the challenhge's theme(seasons) and was it really weddingish?

Yeah..wouldn't it be great if they did a step by step on at least one of the cakes? It was interesting to see all the different styles too.

MrsMissey....I'm with YOU!

I was trying so hard to see how they were creating evrything and they just showed bits and pieces. I loved Colette's cake. It was the first time I saw her live and she was so bubbly! It makes me love her even more. I also loved the other cakes....Mike's was great....the other's were fantastic too! But....I guess it wasn't geared towards the learning audience. Oh well....

KayDay, my husband agrees with you on that. He thought Mike should've won for sure. I think Collette's was the most unique and stood out more than the others. I thought for sure that the newcomer's brother was going to break something when they transferred her cake!

All in all, I came away with serious awe of how fast these people are and how beautiful they can make cakes! I can't imagine being able to do something like that in 6 hours! 6 DAYS maybe....and that'd push it. heh.

I thought Susan's dipping of her flowers in red made a TON of sense....the best way to get that real red down. I'm going to have to try that some time.

OK what was that the red liquid that she dipped the flower in?? I about came out of my seat, trying to see it. My DH laughed like an idot at me.

They actually said that the red liquid was a mixture of alcohol and water???? and food coloring. I don't know how much of each but I was surprised when I heard they use water on sugar flowers. Her cake was boring but her flowers are amazing.

I think all of the cakes were amazing. Colette's was beautiful, but I don't think it showed the four seasons as dramitically as Mike. I really liked the simplicity of Mike's and it definifitely incoporated the four seasons theme. I loved it when they turned the cake on the turntable to show each side. I thought the new girl was really good as well. There is no way I could judge all of those fantastic cakes. That show made me want to practice, practice, practice!

Did anybody else notice Mike's upside-down wedding cake? OMG!!!!!!!! How in the world did he do that?

I didn't hear the water part of that when they dipped the flowers. I taped it and I'll check it to see. I thought I heard just the food coloring and alcohol, which would make sense.
