There was someone with an upcoming cake order and wanted to know how to make their icing less sweet.

I don't remember who it was but their recipe was similar to mine accept used twice as much sugar. I just tried theirs.

OH MY GOSH!!!! Can you say sweet???? It literally gave me a sugar headache from one little lick.

First I tried adding a bitter flavoring.. no luck. Then I tried adding coffee creamer... still way too sweet. I finally added shortening to it (about 1.5 cups [I just eyeballed it] ) and it calmed it down just fine.

Either cut way back on your sugar or add more shortening. Hope this helps.

wow! that does sound sweet!!!!!!!!!!! My teeth are very sensitive to sweet and they hurt just thinking about it! ouch.gif
