COCOA PAINTING...a work in progress

When it's all done I will post it in the gallery...but just thought you guys would like to see my cocoa painting project.

The Chef Instructor dissolves the cocoa powder in alcohol, which gave me a lot of texture which was great for the hair.

I would've liked to have used the cocoa butter for the face to get a nice creamy complexion..lol

I have the frame attached and the stand, I'm just waiting for it to dry securely to be able to display it.

Oh, It was too big to insert here, I've put it in the gallery. Thanks!

Wow! I'm at a loss for words! You are just amazing (found some).

To put you out of doubt, no I'm NOT THAT good..lol

here are some steps.

1. make your pastilage plaque and frame..you may need some legs if you're going to display it.

2. Dry real good, several days if possible.

3. take a sheet of carbon paper, the kind for typing and place UNDER your picture. Tape everything down securely but with very little tape.

4. with a sharp pencil you trace your most important lines, these are your guidelines. This is one of the hardest things to judge because you really don' t need every single little line. Remove the picture and the carbon paper carefuly, carbon smudges very easily.

5. you mix different amounts of cocoa powder in your favorite medium. Be it cocoa butter or alcohol. I use the smallest measuring spoon in my kit. each cup has one more spoonful than the last.

6. with a 10 zero brush you make your lines and with a ZERO brush you paint.

No problem..

that's why we are here, to share.

I believe that SUGAR is a living art as long as we keep on sharing and developing our techniques. I do have step by step pictures, but they probably would take too much room..but if anyone cares to email me I can imbed them into an email, resize the pics and send.

Or I can try to put everything on a word document and send it as an attachment.

Will work on that option this week.

Have too many school projects and 2 midterms due this monday!

I am also going to challenge myself to making a chocolate showpiece. According to chef it should take one person 13 hours to make the one we made in school. ( and he promptly broke!) grrrr. but we had finished it and moved it. I also have pics of that..lol...

NO not the chocolate massacare..lol
