Hi All,
When you do a cake that has plastic toys or something like premade sugar candies that are store bought, how do you figure that into the price to charge the customer?

Say they cost me $7 to buy, how do I work that into the cake total cost?
(Assuming they are to be kept by the customer and not returned to me.)

I can't see charging 2 or 3 times my cost but I think it should be something more than my actual cost. I just don't know what is a fair price.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I would probably go with about 50% markup. Don't forget your gas and time in shopping for your little treasures!

I usually round the number up! Like for instance, my Dora cakes were for my niece and someone asked how much I would charge.....at the time those were the toys from the Dora doll house and were 5.99 each so x's 3 thats 18.00 I just rounded up to 20.00 ........and estimed 125.00 now I like to think Im getting smarter so when I see deals I grab them and just hold on to them as "inventory"
the other day i saw they had Dora, swiper and boots at walmart for 88cents each so that was 2.64 each set .....not bad....I think thats less than most kits...at bakerys.... so at that price I can charge double and be OK.......They are not the same a little smaller but still ok I think.... and I found some Barbies for 3.00 at the family Dollar thats the same as a wilton pick.....So at these prices I can just include in the price...

If it is something special or differnt they could always bring it to you....
