I started work at a new office 3 weeks ago. Today one of the girls had a birthday so I took her a cake in (my one and only freebie just to show what I could do) and i came out with orders for another 2 cakes within the next week. It would have been 3 but one girl doesn't want to pay me £30 for the same size cake she can buy in the local supermarket for £7. I did point out to her the supermarket cakes are machine made, mass produced and full of artificial colours and flavourings. whereas my cakes are hand made, hand iced no preseratives or artifical flavours and decorated with love. She did see my point but felt she couldn't justify the extra expense just for a 6 year old's party.

That's great you got more orders! I find that funny that someone doesn't want to pay the extra for a better quality cake! I would rather my child have a homemade cake without the perservatives and other junk that the store's put into theirs.....I guess to each their own..... icon_rolleyes.gif

Good for you MissBaritone!! (And congrats on the new job too!)
As far as the lady who didn't want to pay that much, we never know what people's money situation are, perhaps she was embarassed to admit that she simply couldn't afford to pay that much. Or maybe she's not a big cake eater, so the quality isn't that important to her. (Gasp- could such a thing exist?? LOL)
In any case, 2 out of 3's not too shabby!! icon_smile.gif

Afraid not I'm up on the North east Coast. Birkinhead is about 4 hours drive away. But if anyone from cc is in my area on holiday at any time I'd be happy to meet you and say hello (as well as showing you the best cake decorating shop in the area)
