Am I the only one who is so anxious to finish my cake that I do not take enough time to do each step well. I am so excited thinking what the cake will look like that I have a hard time waiting for my icing to crust or my crumb coat to set.
How do I learn patience????

I used to have trubble with that too! But mainly my problem was underestamating how much time I would need, so I rushed. I'd sugest stretching out the time used to decorate over 2 days maybe (depending on the size of the project of course!) or seting up activites for yourself between key steps, like a favorite TV show or a book you like, or play a game with your kids (?) or whatever sounds good. For me, with beig projects I like to bake the cakes one day, tort, fill and crumb coat the next day, and decorate the day after that. With small cakes I bake and crumb coat one day and decorate the next, or I watch TV for a brake.

Sometimes when I'm eager to finish a cake so get the end result, the thing that helps me slow down is the thought of it turning out really bad. I'd rather take my time to finish instead of rushing that way I'll be sure that I like it.!!!!

My dh and dd don't want to wait for me to decorate the cake. They're happy with the crumb coat. icon_rolleyes.gif I also have a baby and barely have time to practice. You can tell on my borders when the baby starts to cry. The quality just aint the same! icon_smile.gif
