I'm making a three tier wedding cake with gold decorations. I'm also new to decorating and would like feedback on how to obtain a gold colored frosting. Real gold not yellow. Any suggestions? Thanks!

No idea how to make a metallic frosting, but have you thought about using fondant, then you could just paint that with gold luster dust. Lots and lots of gold luster dust. Good luck.
