I got 2 orders today! icon_biggrin.gif I went to visit my mom at her work and got 2 orders from 2 of her co-workers. I love getting orders, but I never know when I will have a week with no cakes. I'm sure there are some of you that feel this way. I am not griping at all, but I guess I better get use to this. And that is definately a good thing. Just thought I would share.

Do any of you send thank you cards to your clients? Like: Thanks for choosing me to be a part of your celebration.

I always send a thank you card...

and, if they have no problem with it, I have small silver trays...I put them near the cake with my business cards on them.

I bought the silver trays at a closeout of Wilton products..paid $1.00 a pkg for them..I think there are six or eight trays per package and I bought all 15 packages they had. So if I don't get the little tray back I don't mind.

I think it is the nature of the business to be inconsistent icon_lol.gif I dont usually send thank you cards, but when I have a long standing customer (someone who has ordered more than say 5 cakes ) I will give them a Gift Certificate for $5 off their next order or maybe a small tray of cookies at the holidays.

The week usually starts without any orders (as this week did), now I have 3 orders for the weekend. The only weeks I didn't have any cakes was the week of my vacation and the week after. October was looking slow with only 2 weddings but another one got bumped from September thanks to Rita. And I know I will be getting Harvest and Halloween orders.
Just take a deep breath--the holidays are coming!!!

I just cannot believe how busy I have gotten. I have only been trying to sell cakes seriously since May. On average I do 2-3 a week. A couple of weeks ago I did 6 in one week. Thankfully, there are not many cake decorators in my area. Just Wal-Mart and grocery stores and we all have our opinions on those cakes. lol

Mac- same here: On Tuesday I did not have any orders, but now I have 3 for this weekend.

I keep thinking about quiting my part-time job and doing cakes full-time. Well, maybe not when I am at work, that is the only time I have to be on CC. shhh!

I know what you mean. I might have 3 months without a weekend off, then a whole month with nothing at all. When it rains, it pours!

I used to give thank you notes, but lately my customers have been repeats so I'm saving them.

My hubby says that I need to save one week per month with no orders so that we have time together!

I wish I had cakes every week!! Hopefully one day I will get there, as I have only been selling cakes for several months & haven't done much networking so far.

But as someone previously said - when it rains it pours! So true!! icon_biggrin.gif
