Someone said it is made of Lard...I don't use shortening it, therefore I'm not worried about it..

How about either caramel icing or chocolate ganache?

I would probably cover it in fondant, or a chocolate ganache as PinkPanther suggested.

And Crisco is made of vegetable shortening, where as lard is pure animal fat. icon_biggrin.gif

Well, for a turtle cake I would use a caramel pecan icing. But to be honest with you, I don't use icing on my turtle cakes. I just put the caramel mixture between two layers of the cake.
