This weekend was little stressful because I finally got done with my "official" wedding cake. I worked on everything ahead of time and my timing was great. All the cakes were frosted and in the car ready to go. I was just trying to clean up after the chaos of baking and getting ready for the baby sitter to get her so I could drive to the reception hall (45 min away). This was 2:10 p.m.

Then the phone rang . . .

"Is this the cake lady? I'm calling for the Jenkins wedding and because it's raining we're moving the wedding to the reception site and can you have the cake here by 3:00?"

PANIC set in!!!!! I called the baby sitter and asked her to get here as soon as possible. The reception wasn't supposed to start until 5:00 and I still had to do the set up and finish with a bead border around the edges!

Well I drove like a bat out of &$!# to get there, and all those "well intentioned" people start grabbing the cakes out of my car, ARRRRGH!!! As we're walking in some family member has the nerve to say "Well finally the cake's here!" Thank goodness I didn't have time to stop and give them an explanation and a piece of my mind.

Needless to say they had a few dents when they got in. I was so stressed out that my hads were shaking as I put the dowels in. The dents were repaired and the flowers were put in just as the wedding party was lining up to walk in.

Because the groom is a co-worker I stay there with some other firends and helped cut the cake. Thank goodness it was devoured, it made it all worth it in the end.

And they lived happily ever after
The End.

This was the 3 site change for this couple, it's a wonder anyone was able to make it at all. Note to self, no outdoor weddings in Montana at the end of September. Snow, rain, hail, you never know what you'll get.

I am with Traci. How rude of that family member when it was the family who changed everything!!! I would have had to say something. But I am glad that it all worked out for you, Kate. That is the most important thing to remember.

Great news! The wedding cakes generated 2 new orders. One for a wedding cake in February and another for a birthday cake for next week. Thanks for all the encouragement, I wouldn't know what to do without my friends here on CC.

I can completely relate! I once got to the hall a bit later than expected and the wedding was at the same place. Everyone was standing around WATCHING me set up the cake and I kept asking for everyone to "kindly leave" but they just stood there and gawked. I think they thought I was kidding! It made me so nervous!

The cake looks great and the groom's cake too! At least you had them loaded and ready to go! icon_smile.gif
