Well, first off, let me tell you that Barbie had a sleep over at the beautician...trully did miss her that night icon_cry.gif

She was an entirely different person when I picked her up...she thought that she was something. thumbs_up.gif. Now she wants to do weekly visits for her hair and nails...to bad she can't get a pedicure.

Here is her final result...you can see the full cake in my photo.

That is hilarious! I read the thread about the barbie doll the other day. You did a great job. Did you used the fondant rolls underneath the fondant to make the pleated parts? I read that in the instructions but it sounded kind of complicated. Is it easier than it sounds?

Thanks alimonkey and atkin600.

Yes, it is the fondant rolls underneath...that is the easiest part of the whole cake.

You take the amount of fondant needed and roll between your hands to shape like a log.

This was my first time working with MMF.

Cake looks great and so does Barbie's hair.
You should have taken pictures of her at the beauty shop.
So now I think one of us needs to do a cake of barbie at the beauty shop and we can use the mini wonder mold pans and there hair can be in curlers.

Thanks so much for your responses.

Traci, thanks alot for letting me use your cake to do this. My neice-in-law called to thank me and to let me know that he was so surprised @ the cake...I'm glad that he was pleased.

How did you make out with Rita? My sisters were here for a week visiting when Rita hit. My brother-in-law and neice went to Dallas...took them almost 20 hrs to drive a normal four hour ride. My other sister's son went to Lubbock, don't even want to think how long it took him to get there.

jennjd, I was planning on doing that but I was rushing to get her there...forgot her appt. time...can you believe that? I left my camera home. icon_cry.gif
Maybe on her next appt. if I get an order.

tanyascakes, thanks so much, I got a chance to try alot of first on this cake; making mmf, covering cake with it, double string work and so forth.
How did it go with your gel transfer?

Thanks toddsgirl, I think that she did an excellent job.

Hey Stephanie. I am so glad we stayed here. We only had a tree blow down. We got a minimal amount of rain. I would hate to have to drive back in all that traffic!!! I hope your family has a safe ride home. Anyway...I really like your spiderman cake. Next time I will definitely use the candy melts for spidey. That will be a heck of a lot easier than doing all those stars!!!! icon_smile.gif

traci,

Funny thing... the spidey broke around the neck when I went to sit it on the dowels. It didn't break when I flipped it out the pan, nor when I traced the cardboard...go figure.

I was able to repair without them knowing until I told them.

Gave me the chance to do airbrushing...can't wait to do more airbrushing.

Let me know when you do yours.

I have a Badger that I used when I use to airbrush nails.

Pulled it out of the closet, sanitized it and no problems...goes to show that you don't always have to buy things just because it states made especially for cakes.

Well that's great!!! There is a local cake store that sells the equipment, but I decided to get my canon edible image printer first. Now I am so spoiled to printing images that I don't want to do any difficult decorating! Maybe I will ask for the airbrush stuff for a Christmas present! icon_smile.gif

Hi lastingmoments,

Glad that you like her, guess what...the lady got the date wrong for her mom's party and didn't need Barbie until next weekend icon_cry.gif

When I called her about picking it up, that's when she told me about the mix-up with the date.

I told her there was nothing I could do because it was covered in mmf.

She picked up the cake and we are going to do a sheet cake for the weekend, have to meet her today to get some ideas of what she wants.

Another cake order added to the two I already have icon_cry.gif

Stephanie214,
Im sorry to hear that....but i guess it was just one of those weeks. I had somene call and cancel due to rita (rain) and since she moved to the east they called me the night before to tell me it was back on. I was horrified....but pooh came out ok either way.... I loved your doll.......Maybe they could have saved it in the fridge is that wishful thinking!

lastingmoments, sorry it took me so long to respond...couldn't get my internet to dial out.

I ended up getting to bed early for a change. lol

I couldn't store the cake because of the mmf and decorations. She paid for the cake and now I have to do another one for her for this weekend.

Oh well...glad I didn't make the mistake.

All this is just a running joke.
