I have a cake due tomorrow evening (well, technically tonight now!) and I've finished it, but I'm not so sure. The order was for "something elegant." No flowers.

I painted the buttercream with a mix of pink petal and silver luster dusts. Then just the silver -- I almost wish I would have went straight silver though. What do you guys think? Is it worth $45 bucks?

TraciJ,

Your cake is very pretty. In my opinion, $45.00 is a litte low...maybe $55.00.

Thank you! I do wish the picture did it justice. The white is whiter and silver is very silver.

Thank you so much for the boost! My hubbie looked at it this morning and asked if it was covered in fondant. It's buttercream so I think I did well on the smoothing end. thumbs_up.gif I don't know if I really like the Viva trick - I got some fibers that were transferred that I was picking off with a toothpick!

Thanks again. This is going to be looked over and I hope it will pass the test.

TraciJ: I think that the cake is beautiful. Very elegant and your price is fair.

I know what you mean about the Viva fibers. I frosted a 1/2 sheet cake last night and used wax paper (got that one from this site!) and then smoothed my edges and top with a piece of cardboard. I ended up with very straight sides and a wonderfully smooth surface to work on and I didn't have to worry about picking out fibers!! icon_lol.gif

I don't remember who posted the idea but I absolutely love it and I don't think that I will ever go back to the Viva method. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

Keep up the beautiful cakes!!

You did a great job on the smoothing. It really does look kind of like fondant in your picture. I think the pink and silver was a nice color combination.
