I have been asked to make a grooms cake in the shape of a squirrel. I think I saw something about squirrels on this site in the last month, but I don't know where. Any help would be great!

I did a cake w/a BCT of a squirrel. It is in my photos. You could get a pic of a squirrel...I was lucky enough to have SquirrelyCakes pose icon_lol.gif ....but you could also use clipart. But if they want it shaped like a squirrel...do they want a 3D type squirrel or more like a cut out?? Not sure how to do a 3D type....but for a cut out you could enlarge the pic to the size you want and then cut the cake using the template. You could do a BCT for the detail of the squirrel.

Good luck!!

PS, Where is Clermont FL??

Pinkbunny,
Your cake is adorable. Thanks for the ideas. I'll have to see exactly what she has in mind. I've never done a BCT, but have seen info on this site. If it's not too hard, maybe I'll give that a try.

By the way, Clermont is about 20 miles NW of Disney World.

I think you could make a real cute squirrel cake using the 3-D Cuddly Bear pan, I used it to make a wolf . The following site has some great ideas for uses of this pan and a couple, the lion for instance could easily be adjusted. http://www.cindascreativecakes.com/
Hope this helps.

Last years Wilton yearbook used the mini 3-D bear pan to make a little squirrel and it was really cute, don't know why you could use the large 3-D bear pan to make the squirrel.

Thanks again Froggie just jumpin,

The 3-d squirrel will be perfect. I'll put it on a 9x13 with some acorns (mini nilla wafers stuck to a choc. kiss). That way I'll have room for the message she wants too. I've been asked to do this cake in red velvet with choc. frosting. Hope it doesn't look like the squirrel is bleeding when it's cut.

LOL Why don't you bring that up to the bride. Suggest chocolate for the squirrel and red velvet for the sheet cake.. Good Luck

She changed her mind to all chocolate for the groom's cake. She found out he doesn't like red velvet. Thank goodness I don't have to worry about the "bleeding" squirrel now.
