Hello,

I am having a birthday party for my 4 year old on Saturday. Yesterday he requested a spiderman cake so now I'm scrambling. I went to the gallery to look at some cakes and this one seems relatively easy (I don't have time for the 3D cake). I emailed the person who made it with some questions, but have not heard back so I thought I would post the picture here and see if anyone had any suggestions on how I could do the picture of spiderman. I am NOT a talented free-hand artist so I would need to trace something. I don't want to do BCT - wasn't impressed with how it looked after gtting the transfer on the cake. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions, ideas I would LOVE to hear them. Thanks.

Hmmm I couldn't get the picture to show up in my message. Let me see if I can figure it out. I can't figure it out. If you have the time to go to the gallery and search for spiderman it's the last cake in the first vertical row. Thank you.

Well it looks like some sort of a transfer and then filled in with buttercream icing. Why don't you try a colorflow piece.Transfer the picture and cover with wax paper.Using colorflow full strength or royal icing medium strength...outline the image, let it set and then thin down the icing so it can be flowed into the areas. It comes out really smooth and is quite durable to handle. It does have to be made about a week in advance to allow for drying.Hope this helps!!

I never thought of colorflow! Great idea. I don't have time for it with this cake but I will definitely keep it in mind for the next one. GREAT idea! I ended up buying the Wilton Spiderman cake pan. I am pressed for time and this will be the easiest for me to do. I have a few months before I'll need to make an Incredibles cake for my younger son and I think I will go with the color flow. Thanks again!!
