The union for our telephone company TELUS, has been on strike for awhile and no end in site so far. As I have several friends who are out on the picket line, I would like to bring them down a cake to keep the spirits up. I want it to be a 3-D cake but need ideas. Want it to make them smile but not be nasty or rude toward the company just poke a little good natured fun . I thought of making cookies of people carrying placards or wearing billboards to put on it or around the edge. Maybe use some of the animals that they use in their commercials as also on strike, pig, monkey, gecko and bunnies. They have a slogan of 'Let the Fingers do the Walking' for their yellow pages so maybe walking fingers on strike ? Or telephone with some kind of no service message. Can't seem to pull it together and get a clear picture .
Ideas, pictures, suggestions.....help please.

Being a union member who is on layoff, if I was on strike for a company whose motto was "let you fingers doing the walking", I would appreciate a cake with the fingers upright, and maybe one bent down slightly. (know what I mean?) I guess that would be a bit rude to the company though, eh?

I think something lending support to help lift their spirits. Does their union have a motto? and maybe use their local number.
This might sound dumb, and I might not explain my idea well, but just thought I would try...
You could do a round cake with either people or yellow fingers (like you said) picketing around the whole cake. In the center of the cake, you could make a mini telephone, mini cell phone, mini laptop, mini calling card and whatever else you could think of that they offer services for....and center them all on the cake.....and THEN make a BIG O'L lightning bolt coming down through the middle of the products.... like a lightning strike!!
