They are easy to pipe on with royal icing. Much easier than rolling out a bunch of fondant really thin anyway.

AI made the web out of black fondant rolled thin, and yes, by hand. It was very tedious! Hehehe but worth it! I didn't trust myself being able to pipe straight lines ;) good luck!

It really is awesome.  It is one of my favorite Spiderman cakes.  The webs are perfection.

AAwww thank you guys :) this cake is special for me. It's for a 2 yr old boy who has leukemia :( he loves spiderman so i made this cake for him. He lives in another province and a cousin who was flying there agreed to take the cake with him. Spidey didn't survive the flight though, he was either droppes or a heavy object was placed on top of the cake box. Spidey cake was squished! And i was heart broken. But the lil boy and his mom were happy though and ate the cake! Hehehe it's the thought that counts hey? :)

AYou could always extrude fondant ropes from a craft gun/extruded. If you paint the cake with glue where they are going, you can just extrude the ropes straight into place, give them a little nudge with a dry brush if you miss! I'm very impressed the web on that cake is hand-rolled, it's very even!
