My friend's daughter is getting married and they have asked me to make the cake above. I'm a home baker and have been done cakes for family and friends for about 10 years. But I have never done a wedding cake and this is my first cake that is more than 3 tiers. The cake is suppose to have 6 tiers that 4, 6,8, 10, 12 and 14 inches. And I have no idea how much to charge. HELP.
Pricing is very hard to suggest as it varies sooooo much from area to area. As one poster said, see what local bakeries would charge. Maybe take in the picture and ask. It's really not that difficult a cake to reproduce:) Just make 100s of small gp (or fondant) flowers to stick on once the cakes are covered in fondant or even b'cream.
Other than that figure out exactly what your expenses are - include *everything* needed (ingredients for cake & icing; boards, supports etc) to make it then multiply that by 3 or 4. That's not how a bakery would figure it but for you it probably would work :)
