AMy client has asked that I design a cake after one of his wife's paintings. I'll upload the painting to my photos. The best I can describe it is a mauve background with a navy blue "octopus". It's a navy blue sphere shape with cut tentacles floating over a puddle. Also they'd like "30" somewhere. It's her 30th bday. They want it buttercream frosted so I was planning a blackberry buttercream to represent the mauve color. But as far as the "octopus" I'm at a bit of a loss as to how I can incorporate it. Right now I'm thinking of building it with Rice Krispies then covering with fondant ( any tips on covering a sphere smoothly?) placing a dowel in it and wrapping the dowel to look like a tentacle. Then sticking it above the cake so it almost looks like it's floating. I'm a bit of a beginner. Do you think that sounds easy enough? I'm open to all suggestions or tips. Thanks.
