A normal cake is 4" tall. So if I am making a 6" tall cake, would the serving be the same times 1.5?

So lets say I have a 4" cake, normally would serve 6 (wedding). Does this mean a 6" tall 4" cake serve 9?
And then would a 12" cake normally would serve 56 (wedding). A 6" tall 12" tier serve 84? That's a lot of cake!

Thanks in advance! I just want to make sure this makes sense.

Ai understand what you mean -- however servings are determined by footprint not by height -- so each of your examples serve the same number whether four or six inches in height -- if you want more servings you need to dowell & board at the 3" tall mark and you can double your servings -- i mean you could dowell at four inches tall and serve those and awkward 2" tall servings but i would not do that --

just tossing out all the possibilities even the improbable ones

Thanks! So just to clarify, if I were to put a cardboard halfway through the 6" cake (two 3" cakes put together) Then I would get twice the servings? So a 4" tall 6" cake would normally serve 10, but if I did it that way, it would serve 20?

A1x2x4 is the traditional size serving so the 1x2x3 you are proposing is 3/4ths of a normal size -- so yes with the board & dowelling you double your servings but these are under sized -- you should cut 8 per tier for a total of 16 for a 6" cake - because you are doing then a two tier aka double barrel cake--
