Hi everyone!

I have an event this week (Ice Cream Social) but no cakes. The Social will be fun. Easy food (hot dogs, chips, salads) followed by an Ice Cream Bar. Lemonade, iced tea and water to drink. It's going to be a HOT day tomorrow so I'm happy that the client is playing water games and most of the property is shaded well. I'm still going to be hot....and not in the good way! LOL!

Hope everyone had a great week. I have a cake coming up that I'll share with you all on Thursday night. I'm off for another photo shoot starting Friday so I'm going to move FNCC up by one day and meet you all here the 31st at 7:30PST instead of Friday.

Have a fun time Kat.  I am working on a mega project for my birthday next week.  Have been procrastinating, so now am down to having to do it last minute, without a lot of time and without wanting to compromise my ideas.  Am guessing that some elements, like birds, will have to give.  Have a cobblestoned area with two garden boxes and a bird house.  One box has hydrangers, one will have tulips and the birdhouse will have ivy draping over it.  Had thought to add birds and grass and flowers along the path but a lot of that will probably go.  That's the up and the down sides of working with fruitcake.  You can take as long as you like.  That is until you run out of time and you need the cake finished.   I'll post a pic next week.

Have a great week everyone.  I am looking forward to seeing your photos.

Sweet! Totally adorable as usual! Can't wait to see the rest!

Marian...LOVE this cake SO much! S'mores is a family favorite and my grandson JUST learned how to roast marshmallows! SO cute!

Cazza...LOL...fruit cake is SO different in the USA. It is now almost considered something for old Aunts to make and eat. Never considered for a decorated cake. I understand that they can be popular there and in the UK for wedding cakes...that just wouldn't happen here and if it did the Bride and Groom would hear about it from their very displeased guests! LOL! In case you don't know, a fruit cake here has the consistency of a heavy muffin, filled with nuts and bitter candied fruit and then soaked in rum and put in a tin for weeks, periodically resoaked with more rum. I don't like rum or the candied fruit so I can't stand the stuff but my mom still likes it...of course she's 72!

Next week's cake is already in the freezer...fondant is made for the decorating. Made the buttercream today. Getting ready to start working on it on Monday. It's a gift for a friend I'm going to be seeing in Sonoma so, since I haven't seen her in 4 years, I'm really antsy to get it right!

Lovely cakes everyone!! This weekend, I go to do something really fun. TO make up for working so much and not seeing my nephews, I let them decorate their birthday cake with me. The decorator in me wanted to go back and straighten up some of those lines lol!! But, The aunt in me let the boys have it how they wanted it. It was really fun, I've enjoyed spending time with them!

AIm having a horrible night! I was determined to make this cake carefully and up to my expectations. I've bed. Working for hours and I had so many problems with the middle tier! I can't see because I broke two pairs of glasses! I have to refrost the middle tier, but I finally get it right! I start to put the buttercream glue on for the top tier and a blob of purple plops down on the lower tiers. I fix it. I lose my pretty front and get ready to put the top tier on. Lift and lower, and the cake slips off breaking the back off the middle tier.

It's almost 2 am and I don't even know if I can fix it. I have to, but I can't face it.

AAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!

A I'm still working on covering in fondant. I made this for my grandmother's birthday who absolutely loves peacocks. It's butter yellow cake with whipped chocolate ganache filling and I ganache underneath the fondant. I'm have trouble keeping the fondant from ripping when I put it on. Is it the way I'm rolling it out? Any advice would be helpful. This is also my first time stenciling. I made it myself. It took almost 2 hrs to cut out all the deltails.

Good morning everyone!

As usual it's wonderful to come back in on Saturday morning and see all that you have put up while I was sleeping!

Morgan, you and the kids did a WONDERFUL job! I've only done that once, with my son, and I, too, was SO tempted to fix stuff for him but let it lay. He was SO proud!

Cassie, I have to ask...the first photo, the flowers, those are fake? Cake? Wow! Love the rest too and the baseball cupcakes reminded me of a couple of years ago when I did the same for my son's little league team...the boys loved it!

Matty, I still love your Cat in the Hat cake! Very very cute!

Boyka...I know some 7 year old girls in my life who would be just NUTS over that Pony cake! That's just gorgeous!

Pastry...that plate of noodles just looks so real!! Wow!

Elle...Oh my goodness (((HUGS))) that does sound like the worst day of caking possible. Any way to rebake today and start over?

Jesi...love your cake! I have two tips for you with your fondant. The first is that it looks like it's too "loose". When you knead it out it should end up feeling like soft pizza dough. If it's sticky or shiny that means there isn't enough powdered sugar. The reverse of that is too dry and it looks like it's cracking on the surface...elephant skin...just add more crisco to the kneading and that will help that problem. The second tip is that it looks like you rolled it out too thin. Try it a little thicker next time and it may go on easier for you. Hope any of that helps you!  Question...was that a one piece stencil or did you use several? Hand painted or airbrushed? Love your little bird on top too! Too cute!

Hope everyone has a great day!

@catlharper thank you :)

Here are my wedding cakes, cupcakes and cookies for this weekend :)

The cake was just steamed when I took the pictures, so it didn't turn out as great in the picture :(

This cake was for a rustic wedding

The cookies were for the same wedding. We actually used various cutters to create these cookies. For example, for the dress, we used a heart cutter and a christmas tree cutter.

These ribbon rose cupcakes were also for that wedding.

Final look:

The flowers are cupcakes. The picture is on its side (sorry). It's a cupcake bouquet in a clear glass vase with green moss inside. There is a styrofoam sphere stuck in the top of the vase. I stuck toothpicks in the ball and then stuck on the cupcake. Found a tutorial on YouTube. They have to be really close together to keep them on.

The baseball theme was for a friend from church for a boy baby shower. She found pictures on the internet.

A@catlharper thanks a lot for the advice. The tail is a stencil I cut out myself and smooth royal icing over. It took me 2 hrs to cut it out by hand, but it was well worth the result.

I knew you'd pull it off in the end Ella.

It's been an extra pleasure coming here today to see everyone's cakes. I have finally managed to poke my head up from under a mountain of leaves.  They are all dusted, colored and glazed.  Very unimpressed with the first lot of glaze.  I think it had had it so all of my tulip leaves are really shiny as they ended up with a second coat.  It's all a learning experience.  I doubt that I would buy spray glaze again.  I thought it would be great for when I was feeling lazy but it's not much use if it doesn't give you the affect that you want.

Jesi!! Wow! You cut that out yourself! I'm officially in awe!

Cassie, love the ATV rider! Great idea! I'm dying to do a boys cake like that...a "mud" cake! With a grandson I'm bound to get that chance sooner or later! LOL!

Elle It's GORGEOUS! I particularly love the piano keys but that emblem, well, it takes the cake! LOL!

Autumn...SO pretty! I did zebra stripes last summer (ohmygoodness has it been a year already?!?) and was surprised at how much I loved doing it!

Cazza...thanks for the tip...I've been tempted to use the spray glaze...now I know. UGH.

Well, my event was great...or should I say that my set up was great. Unfortunately for the clients only 1/3 of the expected guests arrived. UGH. They are such sweet people that they were actually apologetic to ME. It was a work related event and apparently there is some issue with commitment to the group. I felt SO badly for them. Sometime this week I'll put the photos up on my Party Blog so you guys can see the details.

Today is sorting out the carnage from the party and just staying out of the heat!
