I have to deliver a SMBC frosted cake the day before it will be used.  I have fondant decorations for the top of the cake and am worried about placing them on the cake early.  It is summer and the cake will be refrigerated after it is picked up.

test it in the fridge in advance and see how it does -- there's too many variables there to advise you for sure one way or another
