Does anyone have advice on how to do this well? My handwriting is decent but its not perfect and I'd like to get it as close to perfect as possible.

Thanks!!!

couple things-- first of all i love your screen name--

i pipe from my shoulder more than from my wrist--i more or less lock my elbow (bent of course prolly 90 degrees) --obviously i hold the bag in one hand and i place one finger of the other hand on the bag to help guide it--

use less icing in the bag and a looser icing is better -- less icing as in a cup at max -- you'll have much better control --

i like to lean over the surface when i write on a cake so i can lean from right to left as well-- because if you hold a pen or a piping bag in your hand and swing your arm from the shoulder -- you make an arc -- you need to level that arc out -- if you get what i mean -- you have a small area to get and keep your piping straight -- therefore i stand on a stool or a step so i can hover over my cakes when i need to write on them--

y'know some people can just pick up a piping bag fro the first time and write like they've been doing it for years (and it is maddening to those of use who worked hard to get there hahaha) but it's not talent it's a skill that is acquired just like regular handwriting--

oh and s-t-r-e-t-c-h your icing -- don't let it plop out -- we're not relying on gravity -- you are the master of the piping bag and you put it where you want it --

just pipe your abc's everyday a few times on the counter top -- you'll have it in no time
