I have a customer wanting to order a 5 tier cake (16", 12", 10", 8", & 6") and she is asking for a large amount of gum paste roses cascading down the side of the cake. She also wants Rich's Bettercreme whipped frosting. My question is, is this a disaster waiting to happen? Will the frosting support the weight of the roses? I plan to use the pre-made rose foam cones to remove some of the weight, but I don't know if that will be enough. I have a friend who swears by the whipped frosting and has made a cascade using real roses on a whipped cake without incident, but not the gum paste roses.

Bettercreme frosting is soft, but it won`t melt gumpaste and will melt fondant.

There is one cake decorator I know she did 3 tier round wedding cake with cascading roses ( the price of cake it self was  the same as price of gumpaste roses $ 300.00 for cake and $ 300.00 for roses).

Will it hold the weight of roses? It more depends on how roses are going to be assembled on cake and good, leveled, strong cake support system.
