AI tried the sugarshacks recipe for the 6qt mixer and it turned out gritty I'm thinking of trying the same recipe but I want to start with my sugar in the bowl dump the hot liquid on top and let it sit a couple min. Then mix it together. Add some shorting and beat till smooth. Then add the rest beat again. Then mix on low till soft. Or if anyone has a recipe that is fit for a 6qt mixer that makes smooth icing for cakes

Hi....I have been making sugarshacks 6qt buttercream recipe for the last 8+ months and have never had it come out gritty. Do you sift your powdered sugar? I do, Im not sure that this really makes a difference but at least I know that I wont have any lumps and I will admit that I do use a cheaper powdered sugar. I love it though and have never had any issues with it. I purchase it from Aldis, a local discount grocery store. I also do leave my creamer a bit longer in the measuring cup with the warm liquid to make sure that its well dissolved before I dump it in by the tablespoon.

I do make it step by step according to her instructions though, and I do let it whip for quite some time once I have gotten the consistency that I want.

Good luck!! ;)
