I have been decorating cakes for about 2 years now and have never had a problem with air bubbles. However, the last 2 or 3 cakes I have done.... OMG so many air bubbles!!

I have even had a problem with bubbles in the fondant whilst rolling it out... like, its in the fondant?

Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening? It is driving me crazy!!

Thanks

AWhen you're kneading the fondant press firmly, while folding to keep air bubbles out. Don't stretch it out like taffy.. And if i see air bubbles i prick it with a hat pin on an angle and smooth it out. I know, they are a pain!!! :( i hope someone jumps who has more experience, maybe they have a secret to having to bubbles in fondant! Good luck! :)

Thanks for the tip mattyeatscakes!

I have been using a small needle to pop the bubbles but it leaves holes in my cakes and I can't seem to smooth them out.... Its frustrating!

AI know air bubble can happen when the cake is frozen. If you are working with a cake that has been frozen, make shore it's all the way thawed. I've had it happen with buttercream. To get rid of it. I've learned to (suck it out.) use a small coffee straw. If the bubble is on the side of the cake insert the straw at the base of the cake right below the bubble and suck. You might get some cake In your mouth but it works
