I need to make a sheet cake for my neice's housewarming party. I dread one factor any time I have a larger cake like this and need to do layers, turning out the second layer onto the bottom layer.  I have yet to figure out how to do this without some sort of disaster happening to me.  I almost always am working on my own so I don't have an extra pair of hands.  HOW do you get the second layer of a sheet cake out of the pan and onto the bottom layer and filling without it breaking into pieces?  I KNOW there has to be a way to do this since people do it all the time but I haven't learned the secret yet. HELP!

AI pop the second layer onto a tray and then position the tray over the filled lower layer and then slide the next layer into place.

Let both layers cool. Then, cover the cake layer(s) with plastic wrap and freeze.  You can flip the frozen cake on top of the other layer with no problem.

I freeze the layers and then defrost one I want on bottom.  After I have iced or filled the bottom layer I put the frozen layer on top of it and leave it to defrost.  It doesn't take long for it to and then I trim edges to be the same if needed, then you can ice and decorate as usual.  This saves a lot of drinking, and stress on your end! :-X  I have done them this way for years and have had no problems.  Glad we could help you.

I use a cake lifter and position it over the cake and gently slide it off
